Position Description:
The Jewish Center and Federation of the Twin Tiers (JCF) in Elmira, NY is searching for an Administrator for our non-profit organization. The Administrator oversees all the planning and implementation of charitable and social activities. This position comprises duties relating to the management of the JCF and its budget, as well as personnel and program responsibilities in coordination with community volunteers. The Administrator creates richer internal and external community relationships by fostering Jewish community engagement and by acting as a liaison with outside stakeholders. Programming and community activities are designed to welcome and include all participants.
We are searching for a part time hire at 20 hours per week. The position includes support from an administrative assistant; flexibility concerning managerial duties is required for this position. We are also flexible with regards to remote work and time allotted onsite.
We are offering a financial package of $35 K per year, based on applicant experience as well as conditions of employment. The package includes an option for benefits, as well as two weeks of paid vacation plus all Federal and major Jewish holidays. No relocation reimbursement is included in this offer.
About the JCF:
The Jewish Center and Federation of the Twin Tiers is both a Jewish Center and a Jewish Federation. The JCF offers programs both in the building it shares with Congregation Kol Ami and at other locations. The Federation raises philanthropic funds and distributes them both directly and through the Jewish Federations of North America. The Jewish community in Elmira is over 150 years old. The Elmira Jewish Welfare Fund, one of JCF’s predecessors’ dates back almost a century.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a "people person" with an engaging personality & positive energy.

Desirable experience ideally will include:
  • Managing a non-profit organization with volunteer and part time paid staff
  • Work with a board and a wide variety of committees
  • Work with national and local charity organizations
  • Competency to oversee basic accounting operations
  • Work on fundraising campaigns
  • Comfort with computer platforms like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, Zoom, and others as needed
  • Experience with social media and website upkeep
  • Ability to plan multiple types of events such as lectures, performances, and others; events will include in-person and live participation such as in-person, Zoom, and both simultaneously
  • Willingness to attend & coordinate events outside of office hours
  • Leadership work in community roles and effectiveness in communication.
  • Sensitivity and experience with Jewish communities
  • Work with other faith communities in our local area
About the Twin Tiers:
The Elmira-Corning area is situated near the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York; it is complemented by easy access to several larger cities within a two-hour radius. We are home to many cultural institutions such as the Corning Museum of Glass, the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, the Arnot Museum of Art, and performing arts centers such as Clemens Center for the Performing Arts, the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, and 171 Cedar Arts. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy several different tiers of professional sports teams, multiple golf clubs and ski resorts, and the local Watkins Glen International racetrack. The area is replete with many nationally known Finger Lake wineries, craft breweries, and numerous opportunities for hiking, camping, and viewing gorgeous scenery, as well as other outdoor activities.
