Position Summary
The Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving is pivotal in driving philanthropic growth. The successful candidate will oversee a key part of philanthropic revenue. The candidate will cultivate strong donor relationships, leading all major donor and planned giving opportunities to secure a variety of funding initiatives.
This position reports directory to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Specific Responsibilities
Create and implement a strategic and tactical plan for the Jewish Federation of San Antonio, including major donors capital fundraising, designated giving, corporate giving, and foundation support. (planned giving). Working with volunteers and staff to support the plan and assure its success.
- Increase overall major gifts portfolio including endowment and testamentary gifts.
- Create and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans for portfolio of major donors and planned gift donors.
- Play a key role in building a donor-centered culture.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of planned giving prospects with the goal of securing planned gifts, to include education on planned giving options.
- Partner closely with key lay leaders, committees, and other community partners.
- Represent the Federation at appropriate community-wide events and all fundraising events of this organization.
- Work closely and in conjunction with the Director of Development.
Qualifications
- Proven record of securing five-figure+ major gifts and planned gifts from individual and corporate donors.
- In-depth knowledge of planned giving solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
- Understanding of the complexity of the volunteer/professional relationship and success managing those relationships in an effective and professional manner.
- Knowledge of the Jewish community.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a significant resource development role.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree required.
