The Jewish Federations of North America ("JFNA") consist of 146 Jewish Federations and dozens of Network communities which collectively raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually to support flourishing Jewish life and the needs of the Jewish people in their home communities and around the world. The Jewish Federation system, among the top 10 charities on the continent, leads the largest network of volunteer and professional leaders who build and sustain Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming and inclusive, educated and engaged, involved in the broader community, and deeply connected to Israel and the global Jewish people.

Department Overview:

The Mandel Center for Leadership Excellence supports approximately 6,000 professionals across 146 local Federations in North America. Our vision is that Federations have the professional talent they need at every level to support and sustain flourishing Jewish communities. We do this through online and in-person training and conferences, recruitment efforts, analysis and assessment, consulting support and coaching services. The Mandel department has 3 priority areas:

  • Recruit top talent for key roles across the system;
  • Retain and develop Federation professionals by providing professional development in data-driven best practices and build networks, leadership skills, and communities of practice;
  • Support Federations with data, analysis, HR systems and resources.

Position Description:

The Assistant Director of JFNA’s Fundraising Institute plays a key role in helping to develop and implement fundraising training for Federation professionals in the field, facilitating the development of compelling in-person and online experiences that engage participants and align with the Fundraising Institute’s strategy. Working in close partnership with the Mandel team and colleagues from across the agency, the Assistant Director helps to oversee the content design and delivery for the Fundraising Institute’s programs, and a range of other in-person and online professional development opportunities.

A vital member of the Mandel Center Team, the Assistant Director plays a key role in connecting directly with Federation professionals, colleagues across JFNA, and the many consultants, facilitators and trainers with whom we partner to implement a range of professional development offerings.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the ED of the Fundraising Institute to develop and implement a variety of professional development programs and resources to support growth in Federation professionals from across the system.
    • Help to oversee design, development, curation, and project-management of opportunities (in-professional development in person and online).
    • Manage and support program instructors/facilitators – both external and JFNA’s subject matter experts - determine workflows, timelines, logistics, and deliverables.
    • Coordinate with teams across JFNA and external vendors to ensure quality and excellence + support for key tasks, including session scripting, production, marketing, logistics, and budgeting.
    • Generate program-related resources, including templates, visual aids, multimedia tools, training booklets and other educational materials.
    • Manage evaluation, tracking, and data collection for purposes of continuous improvement and reporting.
  • Establish relationships with Federation professionals participating in the Fundraising Institute’s offerings, providing excellent customer service and follow-through.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a development role at a local Jewish Federation
  • At least 5 years of direct fundraising experience
  • Experience developing and executing professional development programs that serve strategic learning and networking goals.
  • Excellent project management and collaboration skills.
  • Exemplary writing and presenting skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, strategic thinker and doer.
  • Strong team player and comfortable with independent work.

SALARY RANGE: The hiring salary range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000

This is a remote position with the ability to work from a home office and the ability to travel for key programs, organizational events, and occasional meetings.
