The Israel Engagement Associate is responsible for understanding trends in the field related to Israel engagement; overseeing programs and projects which engagement with Israel and with our Partnership region of Yerucham; as well as facilitating deeper connections with the people and land of Israel.
This position reports to the Israel & Overseas Director.
Areas of Responsibility:
  • Serve as point person on local Israel engagement and Miami-Yerucham Partnership programs and people-to-people efforts.
  • In collaboration with the Israel and Overseas Director, plan strategic direction for the Partnership2Gether Miami-Yerucham Partnership and Israel Engagement in the Miami community.
  • Partnership2Gether:
    • Ensure that programs align with the Partnership2Gether vision, mission, and values and work closely with staff and lay leaders to assess programs
    • Develop and manage key relationships with stakeholders in the Partnership2Gether region and our local community
    • Convene lay steering committee in Miami
    • Manage allocation process for the Partnership including the development and review of background and budgetary materials
    • Work with Partnership2Gether committee to identify funding priorities and create new programs
    • Handle different aspects of incoming and outgoing delegations, planning visits, implementing programs and escorting delegations
  • Israel Engagement:
    • Serve as lead staff on planning functions related to Israel Engagement committee
    • Keep abreast of research and trends in the area and Israel engagement
    • Manage the Shinshinim program working with partner organizations and host families, where appropriate, in coordination with the Jewish Agency Shinshinim supervisor
    • Work with the Community Shaliach to assist partner agencies in coordinating programs for Yom Hazikaron and Yom Haatzmaut and maintain a schedule of programs
    • Manage the Gift of Israel savings program – liaise with synagogues and organizations, develop participant recruitment strategy to increase participant families, monitor participants, develop systems to remind families of participation and encourage Israel program recruitment
    • Liaison to the Onward Israel program of which responsibilities include working with local University Hillels on aspects of the Onward Israel program, promotion and recruitment of the program, pre- and post- programming, conduct program orientation session with trip provider
    • Promote the AMHSI Stephen Muss Fellowship, recruit lay leaders to participate on selection committee and participate in candidate selection process
    • Liaise with Israeli Division on programs and opportunities for community engagement
  • Communities 2Gether
    • Work on our partnership with Kibbutz Or Haner on this program created in response to October 7th and its aftermath to help meet the needs of the community and create a plan for rebuilding
  • Maintain accurate programmatic and financial records for relevant programs and develop and present reports as appropriate
  • Promote Federation efforts in the area of Israel engagement through presentations to professional and lay leadership
  • Marketing/publicity related to Partnership activities and Israel Engagement activities in collaboration with the Marketing team
  • Manage the Israel Program Scholarship process
  • Ensure the relevant department web pages are up-to-date
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of programs and provide reports and recommendations to relevant lay and professional bodies
  • Participate in financial resource development efforts including the preparation of proposals, participation in solicitations and other campaign duties as appropriate
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred ideally in the field of Education, Social Work, Public Administration, Jewish Communal Services or similar field of study
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in Jewish communal, nonprofit, public sector or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with lay leaders, community members and colleagues
  • Passion for the mission of Federation and the Jewish community
  • Knowledge of Israel and Israeli society
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hebrew fluency a plus
  • Skilled in research, analysis, program development, management and evaluation
  • High organizational and time management skills
Benefits and Compensation
  • The salary range for this role is $60,000-$65,000. The amount of pay will be determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, and unique skills.

Schedule
  • Federation offers a hybrid work schedule with four days a week in the office and one day remote.
  • The position requires work outside typical business hours of 8:30-5:15/8:30-4:00 on Fridays.
