SUMMARY

The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley presents an exciting opportunity for a talented, flexible, positive, and detail-focused professional to serve as our Director of Community Engagement and Marketing. The position's primary responsibilities include developing, overseeing, and implementing the Federation's community engagement and marketing functions. This person will work with the Executive Director to focus on the key strategic initiatives for the Federation, support the organization's enduring values, maintain and continue to build key relationships that span many aspects of Federation life and work, including high-level fundraising.

ABOUT THE JEWISH FEDERATION

The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley is the cultural center for Jewish life in north-central Indiana and southwest Michigan. The modern community building is centrally located on a beautiful 27-acre wooded campus. The Federation serves the Jewish people – locally, in Israel, and throughout the world – through Jewish Family Services, coordinated fundraising, community-wide programming, and educational activities.

Our staff of 10 full- and part-time employees is led by an energetic and creative Executive Director in his third year. Moshe Kruger has created a positive work atmosphere that rewards creativity and teamwork in pursuit of the long-term success and sustainability of the Federation. The Federation also relies heavily on dedicated volunteers. It is overseen by a board representing a cross-section of our community, with a passion for our organization and those we serve.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Develop all external communications and marketing, including newsletter, event registration, and social media strategy and implementation.

50% Marketing & Communications

· Research, design, deliver and evaluate innovative community engagement strategies that align with the Federation's mission, values, and organizational priorities

· Work with the Executive Director to define and implement the Federation's approach to engagement across the community

· Provide support to each department to fulfill their various communication and marketing material needs as it relates to electronic, printed, and social media products in support of the Federation's many programs

· Stay current on marketing and communication trends to ensure we are communicating via the most appropriate channels

· Develop a constant stream of content to keep our community engaged with and informed about the Jewish Federation

· Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, demonstrating a deep understanding of how to engage diverse audiences with a welcoming and accessible approach

· Develop an effective marketing strategy for public awareness and promotion of the Federation and its events

40% Marketing and Design Management

· Manage the planning, communications, and promotion of community programs & events

· Conduct preliminary research (national, community), including demographics, patterns, and barriers, relative to how the Federation interacts with the broader community

· Manage program marketing and develop program briefs to ensure all programs are properly vetted, plans are in place, and all programs support the Federation's mission

· Work with program managers to facilitate the development of a quarterly & annual program calendar and maintain an online Community Calendar

· Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions

· Create and design various materials for print and digital assets

· Perform retouching and manipulation of images

10% Project Management

· Oversee preparation and justification of the annual budget. Maintain prudent and appropriate use of resources and work to optimize funding opportunities

· Plan and execute special projects that elevate the Federation as the central resource to the Jewish community

Qualifications

· Knowledge of and experience in building community through marketing and PR

· Possesses a compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects

· Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of the budgeting management process

· Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web

· Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other Adobe CC Programs

· Computer literacy, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

· Ability to navigate and administer multiple social media portals and other online resources

· Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of client service

· Able to effectively communicate with various constituents (staff, community members, board members, vendors, advertisers)

· Proven success working in a team environment with strong motivational skills

· Strong organizational skills with an excellent eye for detail

· Ability to work autonomously, determine priorities, and manage multiple deadlines at once

The successful candidate will have a degree in marketing communications and design and a proven track record as a strategic marketer with excellent verbal, design, and writing skills for print, web, social, and digital platforms. The candidate will have a passion for working for a mission-based non-profit with a skill set to build the organization's brand story through innovation, research & development, and planning, coordinating, and directing marketing efforts.
