Director, Special Education and SEGULA Program Coordinator

The Jewish Education Center of Cleveland (JEC) is seeking a dynamic, organized, and collaborative leader for the dual role of Director of Special Education and SEGULA Program Coordinator.
This full-time position oversees community-wide special education advocacy and manages administration of the SEGULA program's state scholarship systems, budgeting, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Director, Special Education

Provide strategic special needs consulting for affiliated early childhood, congregational and Jewish day school programs.

Deliver professional development to build capabilities of local educators. Design and run training sessions.

Support community families by providing resources, advocacy with the IEP process and ongoing consultation.

Build community relationships: Interface with public school districts and Jewish community agencies.

Convene and lead the Special Education Network of intervention specialists from across the schools.

Partner with local special education entities.

Maintain strong connections with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW).
- SEGULA Program Coordination and Compliance

Manage the ODEW Jon Peterson Scholarship and Autism Scholarship programs.

Partner with SEGULA staff on student data collection and entry. Maintain secure student data systems. Submit data to the ODEW quarterly.
- SEGULA Financial and Operational Management

Manage program budgets. Collaborate with JEC’s finance team to build the annual SEGULA budget. Monitor spending and resource allocation.

Coordinate ODEW billing, in close partnership with the finance department. Streamline the scholarship billing process.

Coordinate IDEA B contracts with school districts, when applicable.

Oversee the parent registration process. Maintain clear, timely parent communication.
- SEGULA Development and Governance

Oversee SEGULA fundraising campaigns: Mange the annual "Friends Letter" process, Purim cards and fundraising tzedakah campaign.

Write grant requests.

Help communicate SEGULA’s impact in the community, including presentations and updates for JEC, Federation, and SEGULA Board.
Qualifications and Skills

Licensure: Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License and/or Educational Administrative License required.

Proven Ohio special education experience required.

Strong track record in special education consulting, IEP management and staff supervision.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Master’s degree in special education, educational leadership, or a related field preferred.
