The K-12 Education Director is JCRC-NY’s primary representative to NYC public schools, leading efforts to combat antisemitism, advance Jewish identity education, and support the community within the K-12 system. This is a field-heavy organizing role requiring extensive relationship-building with educators, parents, and community partners. The ideal candidate is an experienced organizer with deep expertise and established connections within the NYCPS system.
Core Responsibilities
1. Student to Student Program Leadership

Manage and expand the Student to Student program across the JCRC-NY catchment area.

Recruit, train, and support Jewish high school student presenters sharing Jewish culture with diverse classroom audiences.

Cultivate partnerships with administrators and teachers to increase program reach and impact.
2. Incident Response & School System Advocacy

Provide rapid response to antisemitic incidents, ensuring proper documentation and coordinated follow-through.

Facilitate dialogue between school leadership, Jewish communities, and stakeholders to resolve tensions.
3. Curriculum Implementation & Educational Resources

Lead the implementation of high-quality Jewish history curricula, including Hidden Voices: Jewish Americans.

Support the rollout of Jewish American Heritage Month and Holocaust education requirements in partnership with schools.

Connect educators with vetted resources that incorporate Jewish perspectives across subject areas
4. Parent Organizing & Civic Engagement

Empower Jewish parents to participate in school governance (CECs, PTAs, and district-level policy).

Educate parents on NYCPS structures to help them advocate effectively for their children.

Build networks of parent leaders to leverage their voices in citywide education discussions.
5. Community Assistance & Support

Provide guidance to Jewish teachers navigating antisemitism and identity issues.

Support Jewish student clubs with programming resources and crisis problem-solving.
Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience and established connections within the NYC public school system.

Proven track record as a community organizer with strong relationship-building skills.

Comfort working in the field, spending significant time in schools and community settings.

Deep understanding of NYCPS structures, policies, and key stakeholders.

Strong facilitation skills with the ability to respond effectively to crisis situations.

Passion for the Jewish community and a deep understanding of antisemitism in education
