The Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus is a human services agency offering a varied program that is largely Jewish in nature. It is committed to enhancing the quality of family life and promoting the physical, intellectual and spiritual wellness of the individual. It provides health-related activities and cultural and educational programs that reflect the Jewish heritage. Although primarily a membership JCC, the JCC also delivers services to the community at large, including populations at risk. Through its wide array of programs, the JCC pursues its mission of strengthening the individual, family, and community.

Position Summary: Assist the JCC community in designing customized one-on-one training programs, tailored to all skill levels from beginners to advanced players, including group training programs, while helping motivate youth to become better basketball players.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide private individual and group lessons

• Develop special programs/camps for Youth or Adults when requested by the Sports and Wellness Director or Recreation Director or Sports Coordinator.

• Instruct clinics for all level and ages of players

• Facilitate Coaches’ clinics

• Instruct learning sessions for parents

• Help with youth basketball team practices when needed.

• Develop and instruct basketball-specific training for all ages and levels of players

• Help with youth and adult basketball programs

• Facilitate basketball tryouts and evaluations

• Coach teams as needed

• Promote and help register for all basketball programming

• Communication with clients and participants

• Maintain an appropriate ratio of student to instructor for every program.

• Help with JCC special events as needed and available.

• Will not provide group/private lessons on JCC property that are not part of JCC programs.

• Only provide private/small group lessons to JCC Members unless approved by the Director of Sports and Wellness or the Sports Coordinator.

• All training of JCC Members may only take place on JCC Property.

• Find appropriate staff to help as needed with the approval from the JCC.

Personal basketball trainers must have a high school diploma, be a minimum of 18 years old, and have coached or trained for a minimum of 2 years. Maintain a Personal Training certification.
