Position Summary
The Salesforce manager will serve as the strategic and operational owner of the Foundation’s Salesforce platform. This role is responsible for ensuring Salesforce reliably supports core business processes, data integrity, reporting, and collaboration across teams. This position balances hands-on platform work with leadership responsibilities and managing internal and external partnerships. This role is expected to evolve as Salesforce capabilities and organizational needs expand over time.
Overall Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary owner of the Foundation’s Salesforce platform, responsible for configuration, security, and automations.
- Lead planning, testing, and deployment of Salesforce updates and enhancements.
- Ensure platform stability, scalability, and usability while minimizing unnecessary customization and technical debt.
- Maintain clean, accurate, and reliable data through regular reviews and quality controls.
- Manage data imports, exports, integrations with third-party applications and internal systems.
- Design and maintain reports and dashboards to support decision making, ensuring alignment with broader organizational reporting needs.
- Partner with other teams to translate needs into platform-appropriate Salesforce solutions.
- Guide teams in framing requests, setting clear expectations around sequencing, tradeoffs, and delivery timelines.
- Serve as a key facilitator for the Digital Transformation Steering Committee, enabling cross-team alignment on Salesforce priorities.
- Translate strategic initiatives and departmental needs into a sequenced, transparent Salesforce roadmap, leading intake and communication of status and delivery timelines.
- Manage complex Salesforce support inquiries and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain user documentation, training materials, and onboarding resources.
- Lead training sessions and promote best practices.
- Lead and manage relationships with Salesforce consulting partners and vendors.
- Define scope, priorities, and success criteria for work performed by external vendors, ensuring vendor solutions align with approved roadmap priorities and organizational standards.
- Prepare for potential future growth of internal Salesforce staff and capabilities.
- Establish and maintain Salesforce governance standards, documentation, and change management processes.
- Ensure Salesforce use aligns with organizational policies, data privacy requirements, and security standards.
- Maintain clear documentation of key business processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience and Professional Background: Salesforce Certified Administrator with at least five years of hands-on experience managing Salesforce in a production environment, including platform configuration, security, and automation. This person should prefer built-in platform tools and only use Apex/custom code when there’s a clear reason.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience managing data quality, with strong reporting and dashboard skills using native Salesforce tools. Ability to design and maintain solutions that balance immediate business needs with long-term objectives. Experience using Conga or similar AppExchange tools.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Manages priorities effectively while advancing work independently and collaboratively. Works respectfully with colleagues across teams. Benefits and Salary Range
Compensation for this position includes an annual base pay range of $145,000–$160,000. Additionally, the Foundation offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package that includes vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and a retirement plan with employer contributions.
