Finance Operations Manager-Endowments

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Finance Operations Manager-Endowments to join our finance team and play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of our endowment and foundation activities. In this role, you will manage a small team. This mid-level position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team while ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of funds that support our mission. We're looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and innovative thinking to help modernize our operations.

This is a full-time, hybrid position that requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Operations Manager-Endowments will oversee the operational aspects of our endowment and foundation activities, including:

  • Manage and mentor a small finance operations team, providing guidance, professional development, and performance management
  • Oversee all cashflow movements related to our endowment, including grant distributions to and from donor advised funds and supporting foundations
  • Monitor and process cash receipts, ensuring accurate recording and timely deposit of funds
  • Coordinate new account openings with internal partners, ensuring proper documentation and internal controls
  • Lead banking reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all reconciliations
  • Maintain integrity between sub-accounting ledgers and actual banking transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement, proposing and implementing innovative solutions
  • Challenge existing processes and think creatively about how technology can enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth grant processing and distribution
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes as they relate to cash and investment activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 1-3 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in banking operations or investment operations, preferably more
  • Demonstrated experience with reconciliation of sub-accounting ledgers against banking transactions
  • Strong understanding of cash management principles and banking operations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Comfort with emerging technologies, including AI tools and automation solutions
  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinker with a track record of challenging the status quo and driving innovation
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with foundation grant operations or endowment management
  • Experience with fund accounting systems
  • Experience implementing process automation or technology solutions in a finance environment

Compensation

Starting salary: $90,000; salary commensurate with experience.
