Major Gifts Officer

The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore is seeking a full-time Major Gifts Officer.

Position Summary: The Associated is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to its Development Team to implement strategies for major donors and prospects of $10,000 including relationship management and engaging in philanthropic conversations and planning. The objective of the Major Gifts Officer is to act as the primary relationship manager to develop long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of donors’ interests, passions and values, leading to increased total giving to The Associated.

This is a full-time, hybrid position that requires a minimum of two days per week in the office.

What You’ll Do:

  • Identify potential major gift donor prospects
  • Design and implement a major gifts strategy for identified prospects
  • Create and implement stewardship plans that integrate short, intermediate and long-term philanthropic strategies for donors. This includes the pursuit of annual unrestricted, supplemental, capital, and planned giving opportunities.
  • Act as primary relationship manager for individual, family and foundation prospects of $10,000 or more/year to reach or exceed annual funding goals.
  • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle; initiate contact with potential leadership and major gift donors; develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with lay leadership; move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; make solicitations when appropriate.
  • Plan and implement events and activities (volunteer experiences, mini-missions, overseas missions, educational opportunities, receptions, etc.) for individual donors using existing activities as appropriate.
  • Track and report relationship management activity using database. Including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current individual top donors.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Five to seven years of non-profit fundraising experience, preferably in Jewish communal work with proven success in major gift fund-raising
  • Superior ability to accomplish goals and to recruit, engage and motivate volunteers and lay leadership
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, perform well under pressure, perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to be flexible

  • Willingness to work select evenings and Sundays
  • Ability to maintain confidentially
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: starting salary is $75,000; commensurate with experience.
