Children's Librarian

The Jewish Library of Baltimore, a program of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore is seeking a part-time Children’s Librarian for Sundays.
The Jewish Library of Baltimore is a dual language library with materials in both English and Hebrew, making it necessary for all applicants to be able to read Hebrew. The Children’s Librarian will be responsible for providing a full range of library services for children and managing the children’s collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the children’s collection including shelving and shelf reading.
- Evaluates and maintains the children's collection and makes recommendations for collection development based on community needs, usage levels and relevance of materials.
- Plans library lessons for school field trips partnering with classroom teachers.
- Conducts appropriate, engaging story times for different ages of children.
- Develop programs by authors, storytellers, and special guest readers. Contacts presenters and coordinates all logistics and details. Be present at all children's events.
- Work with the Community Librarian, including summer reading programming. Create collections on special topics as needed, including book lists for post-programs, follow-up emails. Create displays on special topics for children’s programming: holiday, thematic, or seasonal.
- Supervise young adult volunteer programs. Manage relationships with volunteer coordinators and you adult volunteers.
Skills and Requirements
- Master’s degree required
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience.
- Must be able to read Hebrew.
- Ability to streamline and improve processes.
- In depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to use them in complex and/or unprecedented situations.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and solution-focused.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $30/hours for 7 hours a week; commensurate with experience.
