Reports To: Principal. FLSA Classification: Exempt. Position Purpose: Instructs students in language-related subjects including reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, composition, spelling, and penmanship, fostering strong communication skills and a love for language learning. Qualifications: BS/BA in English or Language Arts Education; three years of teaching experience (independent school preferred but not required); valid GA PSC certificate. Ideal candidate: builds positive classroom environment; understands child/adolescent development; strong communication; effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate activities; maintains a positive environment; communicates grammar/writing concepts clearly; uses educational technologies. Essential Functions: deliver content-related instruction per Davis Academy curriculum; promote active learning; assess and report progress; provide feedback; maintain records; meet with parents; implement classroom management; supervise students in various settings; participate in meetings/professional development; other duties. Physical requirements: desk/computer work; classroom environment; intermittent outdoor conditions.
