Reports To: Principal. FLSA Classification: Exempt. Position Purpose: Instructs middle school students in Social Studies, guiding understanding of historical events, civic processes, geography, and cultural perspectives; fosters critical thinking and appreciation of connections between past and present. Qualifications: BS/BA in History, Social Studies Education, or related field; three years of teaching experience (independent and middle school preferred but not required); valid GA PSC certificate. Ideal candidate: builds relationships and student-centered environment; understands adolescent development; strong communication; effective teaching methods; maintains positive environment; differentiates instruction; collaborates across disciplines; uses educational technology. Essential Functions: deliver content-related instruction; promote active learning; design/administer assessments; provide feedback; maintain records; meet with parents; manage classroom; supervise students in various settings; participate in meetings and professional development; other duties.
