Job Title: Evening & Weekend Building Manager
Location: Temple Emanu-El
Schedule: Nights and Weekends (Variable Hours)

Position Overview
Temple Emanu-El is seeking a reliable and responsible Evening & Weekend Building Assistant to help support the smooth operation of synagogue services, Religious School programs, and special events. This position plays an important role in ensuring that the building is prepared for programs, maintained during events, and secured at the end of the evening. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working independently.

Hours
This is a part-time position with hours that vary week to week depending on the Temple’s schedule of services, Religious School, and events. The role requires a minimum of 4 hours per week, with the potential for 15 or more hours during busy weeks. All shifts take place during evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Building Operations & Security

• Open and close the building for evening and weekend services, Religious School programs, and Temple events
• Ensure all doors, windows, and entry points are properly locked when closing the building
• Conduct a walkthrough of the facility at the end of events to ensure the building is secure
• Remain attentive to general building safety and security throughout events

Event Setup & Support

• Putting out and storing chairs and tables as needed
• Set up and put away food and refreshments for Temple events

Light Custodial Duties

• Take out garbage and recycling
• Sweep floors and clean up spills as needed
• Clean dishes as needed

Qualifications

• Dependable and punctual
• Comfortable working evenings and weekends
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
• Able to perform light physical tasks such as moving chairs/tables and lifting light to moderate items
• Strong attention to detail, especially regarding building security and closing procedures

Preferred Qualities

• Prior experience in facilities support, event setup, or custodial work
• Friendly and respectful demeanor when interacting with congregants, staff, and guests
