Well established, San Jose-based religious institution and preschool seeks part-time Custodian. The Custodian primary duties involve daily cleaning of facility, and setup and breakdown of services, meetings, and events.

Responsibilities

• Assist in set-up and break down for all services, meetings, and events (Audio Visual/tables/chairs/linens/coffee/dishwashing/cleanup/etc.).
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming them.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and re-stock restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, and ritual items.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam-clean and shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Minor landscaping maintenance.
• Notify manager concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Responsible for securing the facility by locking and alarming.

Handyman capabilities, including but not limited to the following trades:

• Electrical – replacing light ballasts and light bulbs
• Minor Plumbing – replacing flappers , chains, and flush levers
• Touch-up Painting
• General Repairs

Qualifications:

• Fluent in English (and Spanish a plus)
• Knowledge of safe and proper use of commercial grade cleaning agents.
• Knowledge of operation of commercial equipment including but not limited to; carpet extraction machines, dishwashers, sound systems, audio visual devices, and alarm systems.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of basic safety principles and practices.
• Must be ability to work independently.
• Self-motivated individual with the ability to multitask efficiently.
• Professional appearance and great work ethic is a must.

• Employment will be dependent on a clean background check.

24 hours per week, Friday- Sunday

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

• San Jose, CA 95126: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
