Description

OVERVIEW

The Preschool Classroom Aid plays a crucial role in supporting the preschool team and ensuring the smooth operation of the classroom and fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all children. JRM Preschool is looking for a Classroom Aid that can go between our younger and older pods. Do you have experience working with toddlers and preschoolers? If so, we want to meet you!

Current open position is the closing shift: 8:45am - 5:45pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following duties are not exhaustive but are meant to provide a good representation of the job. Other duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may change as needed to meet the needs of the organization and the community.

  • Assist in the implementation of daily activities and curriculum.
  • Support the supervision and safety of children during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Help with the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources.
  • Assist children with daily routines, including meals, naps, diapering, and toileting.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and caregivers.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Temple will consider any combination of education and experience that provides a strong foundation for a person to be successful in the role.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Previous experience with children including: child care, teaching, before/after school programs, babysitting. Direct experience with the age group of the classroom to be assigned is preferred.
  • Love of children.
  • Positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents and staff.
  • Ability to pass Portable Background Check and complete trainings required by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) including initial 30-hour training.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Requirements

  • Visual and auditory acuity: Ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
  • Occasional lifting: Ability to lift and carry equipment and/or children up to 40 pounds.
  • Mobility: Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling. Ability to participate in physical activities with children, including outdoor play and classroom activities.

Work Environment

  • Setting: Work primarily in a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor activities.
  • Noise Level: Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels typical of a preschool environment.
  • Standard Hours: Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
  • Collaborative Atmosphere: The position involves working closely with team members and other departments, fostering a collaborative and supportive work culture.
  • Climate-Controlled: The workspace is climate-controlled, ensuring a comfortable temperature year-round, with some outdoor activities throughout the year.
