Mausoleum Caretaker
Temple Beth El Of Boca Raton
The Mausoleum Assistant Caretaker and Groundskeeper is responsible for working directly with the Mausoleum Director and the department in various maintenance duties, including lifting and moving, opening/closing the Mausoleum, Funeral set up/assistance and other functions to assure the effective and efficient operation of the on-site Mausoleum. This position does require weekend availability.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, which include the following:
- Be present and provide assistance during funerals
- Actively participate in entombments and internments.Open and close facility and prepare building for daily use.
- Set up and break down funeral services.
- Set up and break down unveiling services.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized facility.
- Stock and inventory supplies.
- Light maintenance and repair work.
- Maintain the grounds and work with landscapers.
- Follow security protocol and report suspicious activity to Director of Facilities.
- Use daily correspondences including checklists, logs, MaintenanceCare and timesheets.
- Comply with all Temple Beth El safety procedures.
- Act as backup for and assist with duties of Temple Facilities Maintenance Team, as needed.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Work Environment:
· The work environment may involve moderate discomfort or risk, such as operating equipment or exposure to hazardous materials.
· The workplace may also be subject to environmental discomforts, such as loud noises, temperature extremes, and inclement weather.
· Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, masks, face shields, or other protection may be required based on specific tasks or conditions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
· This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Ability to read and interpret reports, documents such as invoices, work orders, business correspondence, government regulations and procedure manuals. Ability to create and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and professionally with all types of members of the community including students, congregants, private vendor, security guards, and the other members of the Temple Beth El staff.

Physical Demands:
· This position requires continuous moderate physical exertion, with some strenuous activities including standing, climbing, crawling, and occasional lifting/moving of objects over 60 pounds.
· The role involves occasional repetitive motion tasks and may require handling potentially hazardous chemicals, with the ability to smell such substances when necessary.
Position Details:
· Full-Time: 32 - 40 hours per week.
· Hourly Rate: Commensurate with relevant work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in building maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping work;
- Oral and written communication skills;
- Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work both independently and with a team;
- Ability to understand work directions and communicate in English;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions;
- Ability to communicate, interact and work harmoniously, effectively and cooperatively at all levels of the organization;
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to supervisor;
- Ability to promote and follow the organization policies and building and department procedures;
- Ability to work on nights and weekends is a requirement.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school;
- 2 + years of experience in custodial work, operating custodial equipment and basic computer skills;
- Prior mausoleum or cemetery experience is a plus!
