This people‑facing role supports Religious School, B‑Mitzvahs, Shabbat services, and weekend programs while serving as a friendly, reliable presence for families, members, and guests.
About the Role
As our Coordinator, you will partner closely with the Rabbi Educator and Executive Director to ensure that our educational programs and weekend experiences are organized, welcoming, and aligned with Temple Akiba’s mission and values.
You’ll play a key role in both program coordination and community experience, helping everything from B-Mitzvah scheduling to Sunday school run seamlessly.
Schedule
· This is a full-time position with a Friday – Tuesday weekend-focused schedule:
- Friday: Afternoon through evening (Shabbat services)
- Saturday: Morning through early afternoon (B-Mitzvah services and programs)
- Sunday: Religious School and Temple programming
- Monday: Administrative and coordination day
- Tuesday: Early afternoon and evening Religious School
Schedule may vary based on the Temple calendar and special events.
What You’ll Do
Program & Administrative Coordination
- Support the Rabbi Educator with scheduling, calendar management, communications, and recordkeeping
- Coordinate the full B-Mitzvah program, including family communication, scheduling, materials, and event preparation
- Manage Religious School logistics, including enrollment tracking, records, communications, and classroom support
- Prepare newsletters, email announcements, and program communications
Weekend & On-Site Operations
- Ensure all spaces are prepared and ready for services and programs
- Serve as a welcoming, helpful presence for congregants, families, and guests
- Coordinate with facilities staff for room setup and maintenance needs
- Provide backup support for livestream and basic A/V systems (training provided)
Systems & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate records in database systems (e.g., ShulCloud)
- Collaborate with clergy, staff, and volunteers to ensure a seamless experience
- Participate in staff meetings and community events

- Basic A/V systems (training provided)
Experience & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of administrative or program coordination experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (high school diploma/GED required)
- Experience in a synagogue, school, nonprofit, or community organization strongly preferred
- Availability to work weekends on a regular basis
Physical & Work Environment
This role includes both office work and active participation in services and school settings. Occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs) may be required, and the environment is dynamic and community-centered.
