Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Camp Nurse will promote and safeguard the physical health of the J Camp community, including campers and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor the health and physical well-being of campers and staff throughout the camp day.
• Provide individualized health care to meet the unique needs of campers and staff.
• Collect and review health reports throughout the camp day. Identify trends and make recommendations based on findings.
• Document care provided and communicate with families as needed regarding their child’s health.
• Ensure safe collection, storage, administration, tracking, and return of all medications.
• Conduct basic first aid and health training refreshers with staff.
• Review camper health forms and share relevant information with Counselors, Activity Specialists, and other appropriate staff. Contact families in advance of their attendance regarding missing or incomplete forms.
• Provide flexible support across multiple camp locations, including during field trips, in person, over the phone, and virtually.
• Collaborate with the Camp Care Coordinator to provide holistic care that integrates physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health.
• Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC.
• Follow all medical and emergency procedures at the SJCC and make recommendations to the Camp Director for policy updates when appropriate.
• Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
