JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Director of Aquatics is responsible for working alongside the Director to ensure that all operations and programming of the indoor and outdoor pools are implemented in an efficient and professional manner at the highest standards. This includes the physical condition of the pools, the programs taking place in the pools, and the scheduling and training of all staff related to life guarding, coaching and instructing.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work to ensure year-round aquatics programs are operating at the highest levels
  • Work closely with the Director to implement all necessary tasks related to the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the pools
  • Supervise staff necessary to make sure both pools have the highest quality lifeguarding, instructors and customer service for members during the entire time that the pools are open
  • In conjunction with the Director, provide hands-on, direct supervision of all aquatic programs on a daily basis
  • Assist the Director in Implementing a comprehensive year-round program of group lessons, private lessons, summer camp, school’s out holiday programming and special events such as special family days/events, 4th of July and Labor Day parties etc
  • Be fully aware of the best and newest trends in the field and research what other facilities currently offer in their aquatic programs
  • Work with members and non-members to coordinate, organize, schedule and promote group and private lessons
  • Ensure Aquatic program materials and supplies are well maintained, stored, cleaned, and organized every day
  • Lifeguard and teach swim lessons as needed
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including early morning, evening and weekend hours and prepared to spend whatever time necessary on site to make sure that both pools are operating at the highest levels. Must be prepared to personally be on site if other staff is not available or are not fulfilling their respective functions at the appropriate level
  • Attend agency-wide management meetings
  • Participate in offering ideas and suggestions to management
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years working in the aquatics, sports and/or recreation industry
  • Current Lifeguard Training Certification
  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification
  • WSI certification preferred
  • Strong customer service skills and an outgoing personality
  • Excellent communication and verbal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

Hours: 40 Hours

Compensation: $45,000-$50,000
