JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Director of Accounting will be assigned general accounting duties and will provide support to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of a portfolio of government, private and foundation grants. Work closely with program management on program, budgets, modifications and other financial requests
  • Timely preparation and submission of periodic vouchers and expenditure reports
  • Monthly analysis of Trial Balance/General Ledger and perform adjustments as needed
  • Preparation of materials for program and agency-wide audits and work with auditor on confirmations
  • Assist with development and analysis of agency-wide budget
  • Facilitate month end close process to ensure timeliness of monthly financial statements
  • Identify and develop ways to improve internal processes to be more efficient and effective
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Responsible for income analysis
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial/statistical reports
  • Assist with preparation of compliance reports
  • Responsible for assisting with and preparation of annual Consolidated Fiscal Report
  • Responsible for fiscal analysis of select non-grant funded departments
  • Monitor fiscal compliance of grant programs, services and ensure accuracy of all fiscal procedures and reporting
  • Prepare, review, enter journal entries, analyze and correct discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness of the GL
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned

RELEVANT SCOPE MEASURES:

  • Assist with internal accounting processes
  • Develop working relationships with department directors and grant supervisory staff
  • Attend all required JCC staff meetings and trainings

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in non-profit accounting including fiscal management of grant contracts
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities and multi-task
  • Excellent analytic skills and ability to analyze financial reports
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

SALARY/HOURS:

  • Full-time/40 Hours/Salary Range: $75-90K
