StandWithUs is an international, nonpartisan Israel education organization that inspires and educates people of all ages and backgrounds, challenges misinformation, and fights antisemitism. We empower and energize students and communities with leadership training and educational programs on hundreds of college campuses, high schools, and middle schools. We inform through social media, print and digital materials, films, weekly newsletters, and missions to Israel. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Los Angeles, the organization has programs on six continents with chapters and offices throughout the U.S., Israel, the UK, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Australia, and beyond.

Position Summary

StandWithUs is seeking a Junior Editor & Fact-Checker (part-time, project-based) to ensure our content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with our organizational style. The role reports to the COO and Director of Quality Assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify facts with primary sources. This entails verifying all names, titles, affiliations, and dates, and ensuring the correct spelling and consistent use of honorifics (where applicable).
• Apply and enforce our uniform organizational style.
• Line edit for clarity and consistency. Address grammar, punctuation, tone, and internal consistency while preserving the author's voice.
• Track changes & version control. This entails utilizing comments, tracked changes, and issue logs to document edits.
• Conduct quality checks and perform semi-final proof passes on layouts/PDFs and documents to identify and correct formatting, links, and typographical errors.

Requirements and Qualifications

• 1+ years of copyediting and/or fact-checking experience (internships and student publications welcome).
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Utilize StandWithUs’ internal style guide.
• Strong research skills and ability to evaluate source credibility and trace primary sources.
• Proficiency with Microsoft, comfort working in PDFs and with tracked changes/comment threads.
• Organized, deadline-driven, and responsive.
• Genuine passion for StandWithUs’ mission and values.

This is a part-time, project-based role.

Position Location: Remote within the United States.

Position Start Date: As soon as possible.

Compensation: Project-based, one-month contract; $3,000–$3,800 total; commensurate with experience.
