Principal Responsibilities:

The Stamford JCC is seeking a part-time (20 hours/week) Volunteer Coordinator to join its growing team. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Volunteer Coordinator will manage all aspects of volunteering for the JCC.

Responsibilities include:

  • recruiting and interviewing/screening volunteers
  • conducting orientation and training sessions
  • matching volunteers with opportunities
  • promoting volunteer opportunities to existing volunteers as well as the JCC community
  • communicating with various departments and community organizations to identify volunteer opportunities
  • creating and maintaining accurate and current descriptions of duties and responsibilities for volunteer opportunities
  • maintaining a volunteer database
  • monitoring volunteer hours and impact
  • maintaining volunteer policies and procedures
  • overseeing the scheduling of volunteers
  • supervising and supporting volunteer activities during special events
  • and promoting the JCC volunteer program and its accomplishments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented; able to multitask.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with volunteers, staff, and members.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with multiple departments and committees.
  • Maintain poise and patience when dealing with volunteers and members, always maintaining diplomacy and grace under pressure.
  • Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including excellent interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Must possess the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of transferrable/relatable experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills; proficient in standard word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Occasional weekends and evenings required.

Salary: $24/hour (approximatley $25,000/year)
