Senior HR Generalist
The Senior HR Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the people, processes, and systems that drive organizational success at the J. This position serves as the HRIS subject matter expert while providing guidance and support across employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, workforce analytics, and risk mitigation.
The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional who thrives in a systems-driven and detail-oriented environment while maintaining a strong focus on the employee experience. This role requires a self-starter who is highly organized, enjoys heavy administrative work, analytical, solutions-focused, and able to balance operational excellence with strategic HR initiatives.
The Senior HR Generalist serves as a trusted partner to managers and employees, promotes accountability, and supports a culture aligned with the J’s values.
HRIS Subject Matter Expert (60% of workload)
- Manages HRIS for the J and supports management and staff with Paycom needs.
- Conduct compensation surveys and collect market data and assist VP of HR with creating salary/pay bands as part of structured compensation for the organization.
- Maintains high accuracy and data integrity across all HRIS modules. (e.g. Talent Management, Performance Management, Government and Compliance, Benefits, Reporting and Analytics)
- Determines best practices in Paycom to improve effectiveness and efficiencies. Automate processes through Paycom to reduce manual workload.
- Responsible for People Operations Analytics in HRIS dashboards and through generating of reports.
- Partners with the VP of HR to design and automate the Performance Management process.
- Analyze reporting trends to improve retention. Conducts both new hire surveys and exit interviews in HRIS to produce insights on how to improve the employee experience and reduce turnover.
- Lead audits and ensure compliance.
- Works with management to create training content in Paycom.
Benefits, Compliance, and Risk Mitigation (30% of workload)
- Oversees all of the Benefits Administrative Process including Open Enrollment, FMLA, medical accommodations and annual audits and makes recommendations to the organization regarding the process and options.
- Works closely with broker on plans, and marketing of benefits through monthly health incentive events and/or trainings.
- Creates automated Benefit Training Content to aid staff with Benefit Elections and Open Enrollment Processes.
- Oversees incident and accident reporting processes, analyzes safety trends, and partners with leadership to develop strategies that reduce workplace injuries, enhance safety practices, and minimize organizational risk.
- In partnership with the VP of HR, develops Standard Operating Procedures.
- Responsible for federal compliance reporting (i.e., Annual OSHA reporting) and follow up.
Employee Relations (10% of Workload)
- Conduct internal investigations into employee complaints and other concerns raised to the organization, documents findings and partners with the VP of HR to ensure alignment with organizational values.
- Interpret and apply HR policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
- Promotes a culture of accountability, while role modeling J Values.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive broad HR experience.
- Strong experience with HRIS platforms required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and policies and HR best practices.
- Advanced and accurate proficiency in HRIS systems, reporting, and data analytics.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
