Description

The Manager of Philanthropy Operations plays a significant and collaborative role, along with the Director Annual Philanthropy, Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Philanthropy Team and other J staff, in the creation and implementation of fundraising plans and activities that align with the J’s strategic direction. The Manager of Philanthropy Operations provides organization, coordination, execution and follow-up of annual donor support including relationship manager assignments, roadmaps and evaluation of goals, managing all database lists for the department, and prospect management. Duties include select communications with donors.

Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Philanthropy Team, actively participate in strategic planning and execution of all fundraising activities, events, and programs.
  • Work with the Director of Annual Philanthropy and Philanthropy Team to create and help execute a Philanthropy calendar (with “owners” indicated) of annual fund solicitation and stewardship activities including assignments, road maps/check-in’s with relationship managers, direct mail appeals, sponsorship appeals, Rosh Hashanah cards, the Annual Report, pledge reminders, endowment and restricted fund communications, etc.
  • Coordinate the annual fund plan with the external calendar as well as internal J events and activities.
  • Responsible for the relationship manager process.
  • Responsible for managing and reporting metrics for annual giving including the “Where we are” chart, Philanthropy dashboards, year over year data and other requested data. Incorporate current data to enhance and strengthen fundraising programs and activities.
  • Working with Finance on philanthropy reporting reconciliation.
  • Data Maintenance oversight and responsible for all department mailing lists including confirming criteria, seeking approval from those involved and submitting to marketing.
  • Generate correspondence for annual fund donors including helping with updates to donor acknowledgements, managing pledge reminder process and communications, End of Year reporting and annual updates to endowment and restricted fund holders.
  • Support the Grants and Donor Relations Associate and serve as back up for entering gifts, and managing donor information in our CRM.
  • Plan, organize and execute community-wide annual giving days if determined part of the strategy.
  • Maintain a pipeline of prospects for solicitation and conduct preliminary research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 3 to 5 years of increasingly responsible development/relationship experience with a solid understanding of fundraising concepts and demonstrated success in annual campaigns, direct mail and special events.
  • Must be able to organize and project manage primarily in areas of business development, financial reporting, and database management, work independently as well as part of a team, follow through on assignments and prioritize competing tasks.
  • Superior organization and communication skills along with a talent for creating communal collaborations and partnerships are required.
  • Some Judaic knowledge and a deep commitment to the J mission and vision are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
  • Proficiency using Salesforce and online event platforms or a demonstrated ability to learn
