Summary:
The Facilities Operations Technician is dedicated to fulfilling the Jewish Community Center’s (the J’s) mission of enriching lives, building community, promoting inclusivity, and creating meaningful Jewish experiences. The Specialist proactively collaborates across departments to create and implement strategies to ensure exemplary service to our staff, members, and rental clients by ensuring all rooms and programs are set up and broken down as needed while assisting with laundry and cleaning tasks.
Hours include Sunday through Thursday from 1- 9:30pm (unless otherwise directed by Supervisor)
Responsibilities:
- Properly set-up and breakdown rooms for all J programming and outside rentals including tables, chairs, and any other supplies as requested in “Today at the J” or layout drawings.
- Be responsible for the physical arrangements in buildings and on grounds for extracurricular performances, such as concerts, lectures, athletic events, etc.
- Be responsible for traffic and parking in connection with functions at the Agency.
- Assist with laundry and cleaning as needed.
- Provide support, direction and supervision to internal staff and temporary staff as needed.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Make minor maintenance repairs of buildings and grounds.
- Direct movement of department equipment.
- Visually inspect work, buildings, and equipment.
- Make periodic reports of jobs accomplished and costs incurred.
- Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Foster a collaborative culture by partnering across departments and within the Building and Grounds team to identify, prioritize and meet their operational needs and organizational mission.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Building and Grounds Department, in relation to staffing, maintenance, operations and cleaning as needed.
- Provide input into developing and documenting the policies and procedures of the Operations team.
- Ensure execution of policies and procedures and provide feedback to ensure continual improvement of internal processes.
- Be available and responsive for building wide events and emergencies, including evenings and weekends.
- Support both J locations as needed.
- Report any issue that you can’t address but requires attention.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Three to five years of successful facility operations with a proven track record of success.
- High School Diploma/GED required; Related College or Technical degree preferred.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred. If not, will train within 90 days.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred. If not, will train.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and practices.
- Ability to effectively use business automation and payroll software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), and databases. Salesforce proficiency a plus.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including completing detailed repair reports.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
- Must have the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with other JCC staff, lay leaders, and customers.
- Must be attentive to details with outstanding internal and external customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate across departments and with external customers and vendors.
- Flexible schedule to allow for weekend and evening work is required.
- Able to volunteer to work set up and tear down for events. May require adjusting hours or time outside of normal business hours.

Physical Demands:
- Must pass pre-employment physical.
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing with the ability to read and understand written material and instructions and write detailed repair reports.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects not to exceed 80 pounds.
- Requires the ability to hear bearing and motor noises.
- Requires the ability to climb and work with the use of a ladder up to 25 ft in elevation.
- Requires the ability to work inside and outside in all types of weather.
