Location: Solomon Schechter AcademyPosition Type: Full-TimeStart Date: July 1st 2026 Position OverviewThe Accounts Receivable Clerk will be responsible for handling financial transactions and maintaining accurate records, ensuring a smooth billing process for our school community. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable Duties- Process deposits (cheques, PAW, and credit card payments). This includes PAW arrangements twice monthly, including banking changes, amount changes, NSF follow-up, and parent communication.- Manage petty cash, including maintaining accurate logs, reimbursements, and reconciliations.- Prepare and complete cheque deposits and perform regular trips to the bank as required.- Provide customer service to parents regarding school fees and payments. Ensure responses to parents and staff are provided in a timely and professional manner.- Prepare mass invoicing for new school year fees (July) prior to the construction holiday/school closure.- Adjust invoices for new and returning students, including tuition assistance.- Review all bursary applications and prepare bursary files. Take ownership of bursary files, including following up with parents to ensure all submissions are accurate. Assist in preparing final numbers for the Finance Committee.- Monitor collections by following up with families regarding overdue balances and ensuring updates are completed in a timely manner.- Prepare invoicing for Extended Day programs.- Upload statements of account to families and assist with troubleshooting access when necessary.- Prepare and issue donation receipts as required throughout the year, ensuring reconciliations are completed (e.g., Israel Trip, library books, etc.). Payroll Functions- Ensure that all employee timesheets are entered properly and ready for processing.- Follow up with employees and managers regarding missing or incomplete timesheets and required approvals/signatures. GST & QST Remittances- Handle GST and QST claims for the Academy and Foundation twice annually. Tax Receipts- Assist with the preparation of tax receipts due by February 28. Bank Reconciliations- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for both the Academy and Foundation. Month-End Responsibilities- Maintain a working knowledge of accounting entries, including reclassification and amortization journal entries.- Assist with month-end accounting processes and maintain accurate supporting documentation. Miscellaneous Responsibilities- Assist with year-end audit preparation and auditor requests.- Conduct police verifications.- Order plaques and awards as required.- Maintain organized records and communicate pertinent financial or operational information to the Director of Finance in a timely manner.- Ensure monthly deadlines and deliverables are consistently met.- Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee, student, and financial information.- Support additional finance and administrative projects as assigned by the Director of Finance. Qualifications- High school or CEGEP diploma (or equivalent); relevant accounting or finance education is an asset.- Previous experience in accounts receivable or a similar financial role.- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French to effectively communicate with the parent community.- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive school environment.
