Shalom Task Force is a non-profit committed to combatting domestic violence and fostering healthy and safe relationships in the Jewish community. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position is critical in enabling the agency to run efficiently and effectively. Agency offers a culture of collaboration, and the bookkeeper will be partnering with other team members.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Record Keeping:o Maintain complete and accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll recordso Record all financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:o    Process invoices and payments in a timely mannero    Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments
  • Compliance and Auditing:o    Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax lawso    Assist in the preparation of financial documents for audits and annual tax filings
  • Financial Reporting:o    Prepare and present financial reports to the management team on a regular basiso    Assist in monitoring budget to actual reports
  • Data Entry and Accuracy:o    Maintain a high level of accuracy in all financial data and documentationo    Organize and file financial records for easy retrieval.
  • Expense Tracking:o    Track and categorize organizational expenses, ensuring proper allocation to various grants, programs and projects
  • Payroll Processing:o    Assist and process employee payroll, including tax withholdings and benefits deductionso    Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
  • Grant Reporting:o    Assist grant teams in preparing finical grant report

Skill and Education Required:

·         Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role

·         Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices

·         Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

·         Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel

·         Familiarity with cloud storage solutions like OneDrive and experience with Dropbox for efficient document management

·         Experience with Federal and State Grant reporting a plus

·         Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

·         Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Position will work on a hybrid remote and in-person schedule.

The salary range for this part-time position is $40,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.
