Position Summary: The coordinator will lead the outreach effort to new previously unknown BNF clients and work closely with the managing director to ensure their case assignment. They will also coordinate the distribution of BNF cards of CY2026.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Screen eligibility and assist clients in applying for the Basic Needs Fund.
  • Order and facilitate the distribution of food gift cards to eligible and approved clients through mailings, pop-up sites and in-office distribution.
  • Perform proactive outreach to Basic Need Fund applicants and describe service offerings to Holocaust Survivor clients and collaterals.
  • Conduct intakes and initial assessments for clients interested in additional services.
  • Refer clients to appropriate HSP offices for assignment by borough of residency to help clients access services as soon as possible.
  • Provide accurate referral information to other service providers as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients on the waitlist and alert appropriate offices to any changes in clients’ condition.
  • Maintain complete and accurate case notes utilizing the program’s data system; prepare required documentation in the case file within organizational time frames.
  • Maintain and report on statistics according to Selfhelp standards, utilizing the program data system and other forms of record keeping as needed.
  • Track Basic Need fund Card distribution and maintain accurate records of payment distribution.
  • Complete other assigned projects by Managing Director as needed and report to said director.
  • Adhere to organization’s standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regard to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization’s policy in regard to absenteeism and appearance.

Salary Ranges - $54,000 - $56,400 per year commensurate with experience.

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree Required.
  • Russian speaking required. Must be able to communicate in English and Russian.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other technology.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and listening skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on treating clients with dignity and respect.

Working Conditions/Physical Demand:

  • Ability to work in the office and work from home.
  • Training and orientation period will be in office M-Th, Friday from Home until informed otherwise.
  • Business Office Environment with phone and computer use
