Under the direction of the Secure Community Network, and in partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Camp, the Camp Security Advisor will serve as a representative of SCN as an expert security advisor, consultant, liaison, and training coordinator to support the continued development, organization, and implementation of the Camp Security Initiative. The Camp Security Advisor will work to ensure the safety and security of all Jewish summer camp organizations under the program's purview and serve as a liaison during crisis response and mitigation efforts, assisting local incident commanders and/or serve as an incident commander during crisis response and mitigation efforts if requested and/or required. The Camp Security Advisor will coordinate with federal, state, and local law enforcement, the intelligence community, non-profit, public, private, and other stakeholder organizations on community safety and security matters.

This is a remote role with significant travel to support camps across North America. Preference will be given to candidates located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic due to the geographic concentration of Jewish summer camps in those regions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist the SCN Director, National Programs in overseeing and implementing the camp program including security consultation, assessment, and training services for member camps.
  • Serve as a representative of SCN to Jewish summer camps throughout North America, as well as regional security partners, local, state, and federal law enforcement, the intelligence community, non-profit, public, private, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as an expert security advisor, consultant, liaison, training coordinator and provider, and coordinate resources between SCN and Jewish summer camps, local, state, and federal law enforcement, the intelligence community, non-profit, public, private, and other stakeholder organizations on community safety and security matters, to include physical and cyber issues.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with professional and lay leadership of camps and related organizations and meet regularly with site personnel as well as state and local officials to share information and promote and review support provided by SCN.
  • Assist the Director in implementing an emergency communications system to ensure timely notifications and downstream capability to camps under the program.
  • Design, develop, and implement security policies, procedures, recommendations, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable security laws, regulations, and privacy legislation, as appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing review of security programs at Jewish summer camps and serve as a resource to other camps more broadly.
  • Assist the Director to design, develop, implement, and oversee strategic processes for camp partners, with defined objectives and measurable deliverables, to meet long-term security needs and interests, and develop tailored strategies to achieve the same locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Assist the Director to plan, coordinate, and conduct threat, hazard, security, and resilience inspection/assessment activities, including the generation of Protective/Resilience Measure Indices based on industry standards, identifying vulnerabilities, and presenting recommendations to mitigate risk locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Assist camps with the development, implementation, and testing of all-hazards preparedness and response plans.
  • Provide training and education through security awareness and active threat response to camp leadership, staff, and counselors locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Provide consulting support to develop, communicate, implement, and monitor solutions and processes regarding appropriate improvements and enhancements to security measures in place at Jewish summer camps.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for various committees to ensure coordination and cooperation among camp organizations locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Provide grant guidance, application support and related consultation for the identification, application and implementation of various grant funding opportunities and awards for safety and security planning, training, and enhancements.
  • Develop and deliver briefings, reports, and requests for information for management and leadership.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent continuing education and professional coursework.
  • Completion of law enforcement certification from an accredited law enforcement academy or approved United States Military Criminal Investigative or Law Enforcement Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) with at least 10 years of sworn law enforcement experience (candidate is currently sworn law enforcement, retired in good standing, and/or honorably discharged from the military).
  • Formal law enforcement leadership experience.
  • Successful ability to pass criminal, financial, and reputational/conduct background checks, as identified/approved.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance of at least a SECRET level.
  • Preferred qualifications include prior supervisory, managerial, and community relations experience.
  • CPP or other security industry certification and campus safety experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Jewish community and FJC operating environment a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of incident and emergency management communication procedures and protocol.
  • Knowledge of FEMA/DHS National Interoperability requirements in relation to Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
  • Ability to design, develop and implement and deliver Emergency Operation Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Organizational Policies, and Training Programs.
  • Skilled in designing, developing, interpreting and applying directives.
  • Ability to work under extremely stressful situations and handle multiple tasks over an extended period of time.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout North America in support of the program and maintain a flexible schedule and on-call hours as needed.

The target annual salary for this position is $140,000. Final annual salary offered will be determined through a thorough assessment of multiple factors and criteria which may include candidate experience and qualifications, available market data, internal salary equity, and budget considerations.
