We are Secure Community Network (SCN), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving as the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America. Here at SCN, we deeply value the team of people that work diligently to commit their lives to action for a better tomorrow and we are excited to add a Donor Stewardship and Communications Manager to our organization.
The Donor Stewardship and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing compelling donor-facing communications that deepen engagement and increase philanthropic support. This role drives storytelling across multiple channels including impact reports, annual fund appeals, funding proposals, event materials, stewardship touchpoints, and digital content to elevate the organization's profile and demonstrate the value and outcomes of donor investments. The position plays a critical role in donor retention and growth by ensuring the quality, consistency, clarity, and persuasiveness of proposals, stewardship materials, and other donor communications.
This role may be based anywhere in the US. Our main office is located in Chicago, so local candidates would work out of our office in a hybrid model and candidates based elsewhere would travel to Chicago as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Develop and implement a donor stewardship strategy that ensures timely, thoughtful, and meaningful engagement across the donor lifecycle.
- Create compelling written and visual content that clearly communicates impact, outcomes, and organizational priorities.
- Craft donor-facing materials including proposals, appeals, invitations, impact reports, stewardship materials, and updates, ensuring messaging is donor-centered, data-informed, and aligned with the organization's mission, values, and brand voice.
- Manage all stewardship activities, including customized acknowledgements, impact updates, reports, personalized communications, and recognition materials.
- Create and maintain fundraising communications calendar, ensuring consistent touchpoints across relevant audiences throughout the year.
- Partner with team members and lay leaders to tailor stewardship efforts for major donors, foundation partners, and other relevant donor audiences.
- Track stewardship activities to support donor retention, satisfaction, and long-term giving.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to synthesize information on organizational programs, activities, and outcomes to ensure compelling storytelling demonstrating donor impact and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Work with organizational leadership to support campaign strategies through strong messaging across platforms, with a focus on increasing engagement and revenue.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in development communications, donor stewardship, or other closely-related work in the nonprofit sector.
- Exceptional written communication skills including writing, editing, and storytelling, with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and maintain organization in balancing multiple projects.
- Demonstrated integrity, transparency, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and email marketing or other relevant communications and basic design platforms.
- Ability to logically solve problems with minimal supervision.
- Discretion handling and communicating sensitive information.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, responding to shifting priorities and meeting deadlines.
- A positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Sensitivity to Jewish culture and traditions.

The target annual salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000. Final annual salary offered will be determined through a thorough assessment of multiple factors and criteria which may include candidate experience and qualifications, available market data, internal salary equity, and budget considerations.
