JOB DESCRIPTION: Volunteer Onboarding Specialist – Part time (up to 140hours per week)

Reports to: Volunteer Manager

Basic Responsibilities: Coordinating all administration related to onboarding of new volunteers

Volunteer Department:

  • Manage all volunteer inquiries and help determine who is appropriate and should be vetted for open positions
  • Conduct background checks, including criminal history and reference verification, for new volunteers
  • Check motor vehicle reports and ensure safe driving records, for those who require it
  • Verify all required qualifications have been signed, uploaded, or completed
  • Approve qualifications, as completed
  • Follow up on missing qualifications
  • Help obtain appointments and letters regarding drug testing and fingerprinting, where applicable
  • Keep a record of the status of all inquiries and new volunteers who are being vetted
  • Participate and aid coordination for events such as our annual breakfast for National Volunteer Week
  • Support administrative needs for Annual Celebration and Stepping Out Gala
  • Attendance at all full staff meetings and agency events
  • Opportunities for additional responsibility including training of new volunteers
  • Cross training on other Volunteer Department responsibilities encouraged
  • Other administrative responsibilities, as necessary

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred
  • Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to multi-task, organized, and detail oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and phone skills
  • Experience with volunteers or as a volunteer preferred
