Job Summary:
The Cosmetologist provides hair and personal grooming services to individuals with intellectual and developmental
disabilities, seniors, and community members in a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment. This role focuses on
promoting dignity, self-confidence, and well-being while adapting services to meet individual needs. Strong
communication skills, patience, and a person-centered approach are essential.

- Provide haircuts, styling, and manicures to clients, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
- Offer consultation to clients regarding hair care and styling preferences.
- Provide shampooing, conditioning, and scalp treatments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic salon environment in compliance with state regulations.
- Manage salon appointments and walk-ins efficiently, ensuring minimal wait times.
- Train reception staff to manage administrative duties of the salon.
- Stay current on trends, products, and techniques.
- Promote salon services when appropriate.
All employees who use their personal car for work, must submit a copy of their insurance card, driver’s
license, and registration
Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:
- Current and valid New Jersey cosmetology license
Minimum education required;
- High school diploma or GED equivalent ·
- Minimum three years of experience as a stylist and manicurist Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (preferred).
Additional Technical Requirements:
- Passion for working with vulnerable populations, such as individuals with disabilities and seniors
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patience and empathy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation and safety protocols related to hair and nail services.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
