Job Summary
The Intake Social Worker serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking support through our agency. This role is responsible for screening incoming calls, providing daily call backs, coordinating appointments for counseling and internal services, verifying behavioral health insurance coverage, obtaining pre-authorizations, and managing a clinician’s case load by scheduling appointments. In addition, this position will provide callers information and referrals on external community resources. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, can deliver high quality care and customer service, and skilled in navigating both clinical and administrative systems.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work preferred. Other college degree such as Psychology, or Human Services and previous experience working in intake, and or case management with a hospital or behavioral health setting, or a social service agency will be considered.
• Two years of experience in Social Work field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Critical thinking- ability to assess and understand caller's needs. Being able to find solutions or provide recommendations for a myriad of personal social, mental health, and/ or economic issues.
• Demonstrates good judgement.
• Accuracy in communicating information in emails and in meetings.
• Timely and organized, strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain an up-to-date database of community partners and referral contacts
• Ability to conduct initial needs assessments to determine appropriate need for internal programs
• Experience in scheduling appointments for counseling, assign clients to clinicians calendar.
• Experience in verifying client insurance eligibility and benefits for counseling services.
