Position Summary: We are a private TK-8 school feeding 100-200 students weekday lunch. You are a Dish/Prep Cook who can support daily food prep and kitchen operations. This role involves chopping, light cooking, dish washing, and kitchen cleanliness; working closely with the lead cook to ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and on schedule.Key Responsibilities: Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils; keep the dish station organized and running smoothly; Wash, peel, chop, and prepare fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients according to instructions; Follow recipes and assist with cooking tasks (e.g., sautéing, boiling, assembling dishes) under supervision; Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas; Follow food safety and hygiene standards (handwashing, proper food storage, allergen awareness); Help receive, unpack, and store food deliveries; Keep kitchen floors and surfaces clear during service; Support the cook with any other prep or kitchen tasks as needed.Qualifications: Previous kitchen, food service, or dish washing experience preferred but not required; Comfortable using kitchen tools (knives, cutting boards, cooking equipment) safely; Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a small team; Punctual, dependable, and able to stay on your feet for extended periods; Food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain one) may be required; Must pass a background check, as required for school employment; Conversational English a plus.Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11am-2pm, following the school calendar. One to two evening shifts each month.
