Robert M. Beren Academy invites applications for a full-time (30 hours) Student Support Specialist for the 2025-2026 academic year. The specialist will primarily work with students who require additional support in their learning journey. Essential Duties- Participate as an active team member supporting a nurturing and inclusive environment.- Maintain current knowledge of instructional strategies and multiple teaching methods.- Act as an advocate for students as required.- Provide diagnostic and prescriptive services for students.- Review student records and discuss information with classroom teachers.- Provide direct instruction individually or in small groups, in-class or in a separate location.- Support classroom teachers with systematic instruction and multi-level learning.- Gather information to determine interventions and programming using various assessments.- Provide written reports and/or interviews for parents each reporting period, as needed.- Participate in interviews with teachers and parents/guardians as needed.- Create strong partnerships with parents.- Develop and maintain students' personal learning plans; maintain accommodation sheets. Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience- Bachelor's Degree preferred.- Successful teaching experience with students performing below grade level.- Experience with middle and high school students preferred.- Knowledge of referral processes in private schools and with HISD or other local agencies. Desired but not Required- Experience working with ESL students.- Hebrew speaker. Required Skills and Abilities- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work as a team player.- Strong rapport-building and communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.- Positive attitude and work ethic; proficiency with computers and applicable software.
