Position Type: Full Time Union employee – 30 hours a week during school year

POSITION SUMMARY:

Transport Older Adults roundtrip to the Center, on trips, and to medical appointments.

Transports Children from Local Schools to the Y’s afterschool program.

Ensures that vehicles are in working order.

Monitors maintenance schedule and maintains communication with service station.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Pick up and deliver clients to designated destinations.
• Keep vehicle clean as directed.
• Maintain vehicle in good operating condition, including gas, oil and tires.
• Pick up and return vehicle to appropriate parking space.
• Inspect vehicle daily and report any operational or structural defects immediately.
• Interface with mechanic when problems arise
• Keep daily, passenger logs, gasoline and mileage records.
• Complete other paper work as directed.
• Collect contributions confidentially and report total income.
• Comply with agency protocol in emergency situations.
• Other related assignments at the discretion of the Senior Center Director.

SKILLS:

• Ability to read and speak English.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle Maintenance
• Ability to maintain good driving record

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES FOR THIS POSITION:

• A valid New York State Class B Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement and School Bus Endorsements
• Commercial driving experience
• Clean Driving Record or Explanation with Point Reduction
• Cautious and Safe Driver
