POSITION SUMMARY:
The Homework Support Teacher will work with children in grades K–6 enrolled in the Riverdale Y’s after school program to ensure all homework is completed each day. This role requires patience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to support a wide range of learners with varying needs and abilities. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, structured, and supportive environment that helps children stay focused and build confidence in their academic skills.

The Homework Support Teacher will work Monday–Thursday from 3:30–6:00 PM. If all homework is completed before dismissal, the teacher may leave early. Pay rate is $30/hour.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support children (grades K–6) during homework time in the after school program.
• Provide individualized attention to students as needed to ensure understanding and task completion.
• Encourage good study habits, focus, and independence in completing assignments.
• Communicate with after school staff about any academic challenges or patterns observed.
• Maintain a calm and positive learning environment that promotes respect and focus.
• Dismiss students back to classroom once all homework is completed and checked.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or background in education/tutoring preferred.
• Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational or after school setting.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple grade levels simultaneously.
• Patient, flexible, and supportive approach to learning.
