Job Title: Program Assistant
Location: Riverdale Y, 5625 Arlington Ave, Bronx, NY 10471
Reports to: Director of New Beginnings & the Director of Volunteer Services

FULL TIME – 30 hours a week

Salary Range: $28,000 – $32,000 Annually with Union Benefits

Position Overview

The Program Assistant supports volunteer services and programs at the New Beginnings Older Adult Center. This role ensures, accurate data reporting, smooth program delivery and a positive experience for both older adult participants and volunteers.

Job Functions:
The duties below are the most significant responsibilities of the CEM that are essential for effective performance in this role. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Database & Client relations (40%)

  • Data entry and database management for client data, registrations, renewals, and consent forms.
  • Client communications (e-mails, telephonic, and in person) regarding database updates, appointments, service updates, and feedback collection
  • Additional clerical support to older adult center as needed

Volunteer support (40%)

  • Facilitate orientation and training for new participants in volunteer program
  • Oversee the service of lunch to 100 older adults a day
  • Manage volunteer scheduling and maintain volunteer database, creating schedules for regular and drop-in volunteers.
  • Recruit volunteers for lunch service and other key roles assisting Volunteer Director as needed.

Program Assistance (20%)

  • Plan, oversee, and assist with daily lunch service and other programs including service, setup and cleanup.
  • Set up and operate physical and audio-visual equipment; facilitate programs as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent life/work experience required
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Leadership: Builds rapport across diverse groups.
  • Community Commitment: Passionate about serving disadvantaged populations and fostering community service on behalf of older adults
