The purpose and objective for this position is for the employee to assist the volunteer leadership, clergy, and staff in fulfilling RSNS accounting and bookkeeping needs. The bookkeeper works collaboratively with the volunteer leadership, clergy, and staff of RSNS in a team environment. The bookkeeper fulfills the position objectives through performing the major position responsibilities listed below (and other essential tasks as assigned).

Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable:

    1. Create invoices
    1. Prepare statements
    1. Process payments
    1. Prepare aging report
    1. Make weekly deposits
    1. Prepare month-end reconciliation statements

Accounts Payable:

    1. Post invoices
    1. Prepare payment vouchers
    1. Write checks
    1. Track unpaid invoices
    1. File paid invoices
    1. Prepare aging reports
    1. Prepare month-end reconciliation statements

Other Responsibilities

    1. Prepare payroll submissions
    1. Post payroll journal entries
    1. Maintain contact information in QuickBooks database
    1. Respond to client, vendor and other accounting inquiries
    1. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements
    1. Prepare annual budget and update financial forecast
    1. Reconcile dedicated funds
    1. Other essential duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Technical Skills:

    1. General knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  1. Familiarity with data processing, financial (QuickBooks),, and spreadsheet (Excel) software
    1. Computer Software (MS Office Suite), email/internet
    1. Willingness to learn RSNS database management program - Shulcloud
