<div> <p><b>Position Title: Assistant Director of College Guidance, Upper School </b></p> <p><b>Reports To: Dean of College Guidance </b></p> <p><b>Employment Classification: College Guidance </b></p> <p><br> <b>Schedule: Part Time</b></p> <p><b>Position Summary</b></p> <p>The Assistant Director of College Guidance is responsible for supporting the implementation of a comprehensive, student-centered college counseling program at Ramaz. This role involves advising students and families throughout the college search and application process, writing counselor recommendation letters, teaching a College Guidance Seminar course, and helping to coordinate college-related programming and communication. This is a part-time position requiring a three-day work week, responsiveness to email the other two days, and occasional work on evenings and weekends.</p> <p><b>Objectives</b></p> <ul> <li>Support the delivery of a holistic and developmentally appropriate college counseling program for students in grades 9–12</li> <li>Guide and counsel students and families throughout the college application process</li> <li>Compose counselor letters of recommendation and provide peer review of colleague letters</li> <li>Teach the College Guidance Seminar and contribute to ongoing student programming</li> <li>Build and maintain professional relationships with college admissions officers and represent Ramaz at external events</li> </ul> <p><b>Responsibilities Include</b></p> <ul> <li>Educate students and parents about the college search and application process, providing thoughtful and ethical guidance</li> <li>Compose comprehensive and compelling counselor letters of recommendation for each senior counselee</li> <li>Serve as the college advisor for approximately 12–15 students per grade</li> <li>Meet with students in grades 9–12 as a group and individually to implement a developmentally appropriate college counseling curriculum</li> <li>Support and inform parents through one-on-one meetings and ongoing communication</li> <li>Teach the College Guidance Seminar course</li> <li>Read and provide constructive feedback on college essays and supplemental writing</li> <li>Help plan and lead college-related informational programs for students, parents, and faculty</li> <li>Establish and maintain professional relationships with college admission officers</li> <li>Willingness to attend national conferences and college tour programs</li> <li>Collaborate as a member of the College Guidance team and contribute to a positive, student-focused environment\</li> <li>Be available to support and/or attend college-related programs and events, including those held in the evenings and on weekends</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of College Guidance<b> </b> </li> </ul> <p><b>Skills and Competencies</b></p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of the college admissions landscape, including standardized testing, application procedures, and essay preparation</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to support and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues</li> <li>Exceptional writing and editing skills, particularly in the context of recommendation letters and student application materials</li> <li>Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities</li> <li>Team-oriented and collaborative with a strong commitment to student success and well-being</li> </ul> <p><b>Qualifications Required</b></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree required</li> <li>Minimum of 3 years of experience in college guidance counseling or college admissions</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills</li> <li>Collaborative, team-oriented mindset and a commitment to student success</li> </ul> <p><b>Compensation</b></p> <p>Full time annualized salary of $60,000 - $85,000 (commensurate with relevant experience and education).
