Pressman Academy is seeking our first Israel Education Department Chair. The Pressman Academy Israel Department Chair is a faculty leader responsible for shaping and advancing a cohesive Israel education program across the elementary and middle school. Working in close partnership with school leadership, the Chair provides instructional leadership, curricular guidance, and professional support to Israel educators, ensuring alignment with Pressman’s mission, values, and educational philosophy. The Chair leads the ongoing development of a vertically integrated K–8 Israel curriculum, mentors and supports faculty, and strengthens teaching and learning in Israel education. The Israel Department Chair also serves as a key thought partner in strengthening Israel-related experiences and programming, including parent education and the annual middle school Israel trip. The Chair is a member of the Hanhallah (the education management team) and reports to the Judaic Studies Principal.Who are we? Pressman Academy is a vibrant ECC–8th grade Jewish day school in Los Angeles where relationships, professionalism, and purpose are at the heart of everything we do. We are a deeply connected community of educators who care about ideas, about children, and about one another, and we approach our work with curiosity, collaboration, and integrity. Israel education is a strategic priority and a defining pillar of the Pressman experience: we are intentionally investing in a coherent, values-driven, and developmentally aligned K–8 Israel education program that prepares students to be knowledgeable and proud Zionists, deeply connected to the people, land, and State of Israel, and able to engage complexity and disagreement with empathy and courage. We believe academic rigor and social-emotional growth are inseparable, which is why we are known for graduating students who are not only strong thinkers but true mensches.Who are you? You are an experienced educator and leader who possesses a clear educational vision and a passion for Israel education. You bring the ability to think both vertically and developmentally, and to support the design and refinement of curriculum and programming across grade levels. You are equally comfortable teaching a K-8 Israel education class as you are in a conversation with parents about the values and complexity of our curriculum or coordinating the annual student trip to Israel. You read current educational research for fun, and you most enjoy being part of a professional community who builds together, thinks deeply, and takes both relationships and ideas seriously.Qualifications: Master’s degree in Education, Israel education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (required); Teaching and leadership experience including in coaching of faculty and staff; Demonstrated ability to lead adults with clarity, empathy, and accountability; Proven skill in communicating clearly and proactively with parents about developmental benchmarks, expectations, and student progress; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; Collaborative leadership style and ability to work effectively as a member of a senior leadership team; Commitment to Pressman Academy’s mission, values, and Jewish educational environment.Salary and Benefits: Salary range: $90,000-$120,000 annual salary; Competitive benefits package.Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Mr. Yonatan Rosner, Judaic Studies Principal, at yrosner@pressmanacademy.org.
