Overview of the Role:
- The Fitness Manager directs the day-to-day operations of the Fitness team. The FM will lead the team in creating best of class programs that provide excellence in quality, customer service, safety and cleanliness. The FM will grow the personal training department through active recruiting, training, development, engagement, and strategic planning.
The FM is responsible for overseeing the Fitness operations and providing onsite leadership for Personal Trainers, the Fitness Floor Coordinator, and Fitness Floor Attendants. The FM also ensures the team meets the budgeted department goal and is responsible for all matters pertaining to equipment and safety on the fitness floor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Recruit, support, and manage Fitness team members. Build personal training team by interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching them to hit monthly and yearly goals.
- Supervise the Fitness Floor Coordinator and monitor the Fitness Floor Attendant schedule.
- Ensure that department’s monthly and yearly revenue goals are met through oversight and development of fitness training programs.
- Lead regularly scheduled Personal Trainer team meetings.
- Perform Personal Training sessions.
- Perform fitness assessments (movement and posture assessments, body composition tests, etc) as requested by members. and match Personal Trainers with new clients.
- Manage the CRM system as it relates to the Fitness Team.
- Manage payroll process and complete payroll twice monthly.
- Respond to and address member questions, comments, and concerns daily and provide mediation between members/staff, members/members, and staff/staff.
- Work with Fitness and Housekeeping teams to ensure fitness floor cleanliness. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly fitness floor, including weights, towels, water bottles, cleaning equipment, etc.
- Work with Marketing to produce a monthly fitness e-mail.
- Assist Senior Director of Wellness in creating yearly budget.
- Attend weekly department head meetings, monthly manager’s and HR meetings, and company fitness meetings and required training.
- Serve as one of the PJCC Managers on Duty.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, kinesiology, or related field required.
- 2+ years’ work experience as a Personal Trainer.
- 1 year work experience in fitness management preferred.
- Previous experience developing and managing recreation and or/sport programming preferred.
- Certified nationally accredited personal trainer certification such as ACE or NASM required.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively and cooperatively with others, other departments within the organization and with other organizations and entities.
- Willingness and eagerness to explore new ideas.
- Process-driven with exceptional reporting and analytical skills are beneficial.
