The Full-Time Floating/Permanent Substitute Teacher provides daily, flexible classroom coverage across early childhood (toddlers/preschool) and elementary school (K-5) classrooms. This on-site professional steps in seamlessly to cover teacher absences, planning periods, and required staff breaks, ensuring continuous learning, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Management & Instruction

  • Adapt Instruction: Deliver lesson plans across diverse developmental stages, from 18 months to 5th-grade academic subjects.
  • Maintain Routines: Follow established classroom schedules and daily routines to minimize disruption for students.
  • Manage Behavior: Use positive guidance strategies that are age-appropriate for both early childhood and elementary settings.

Care & Safety Compliance

  • Supervise Students: Maintain constant visual supervision of children to ensure strict physical and emotional safety.
  • Meet Basic Needs: Assist younger children (ages 18 months to preschool) with meals, napping, toileting, and diapering routines.
  • Adhere to Ratios: Ensure classroom operations strictly meet state licensing ratios and school safety protocols at all times.

School Support & Flexibility

  • Transition Quickly: Move between classrooms, age groups, and duties on short notice based on daily school needs.
  • Cover Duty Shifts: Assist with non-instructional duties, including morning drop-off, recess, lunchroom monitoring, and afternoon dismissal.
  • Support Staff: Collaborate with co-teachers and aides to keep classrooms clean, organized, and properly sanitized.
