Administrative Assistant for Education

This position is an opportunity to work with a dynamic, committed, and collaborative educational staff. Together, we ensure the smooth running of all levels of educational programming and engagement for a vibrant Conservative synagogue that is committed to creating a community of excellence in Jewish tradition and learning.

This person reports to the Director of Lifelong Learning and should be skilled in communications and interpersonal skills in order to bring youth, family, and lifelong learning together in meaningful ways. The role includes supporting, communicating, and partnering with professional staff and lay leaders on the logistics and needs of all educational programming. This includes all adult education classes, programs, youth groups, retreats, and religious school programming for Kindergarten through 12th grades.

The role includes an opportunity to work closely with, and under the supervision of, the Director of Education in ensuring that the Alvin Browdy Religious School for students in Kindergarten through 7th grade operates smoothly, and is a supportive and nurturing educational environment for students, families, and teachers.

The person in this role should be detail-oriented, collaborative, and interested in learning more about how to connect people to one another and to Jewish tradition. Engaging members of the community and interpersonal skills are integral parts of this position.

This is a full-time position. While most responsibilities will require being on site, there will be flexibility and the ability to work from home at other times.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring that all communications are professional, accurate, timely, friendly, and appropriate.
• Compiling, editing, and sending regular communications and newsletters.
• Ordering food and supplies, and coordinating and following up with all vendors, staff, and venues for all intergenerational, educational programming.
• Organizing and maintaining shared spaces.
• Maintaining and updating account information and CRM database for religious school families and learners of all ages.
• Creating and maintaining registration forms, calendar entries, and other materials.
• Verifying and submitting payroll for hourly educational staff.
• Supporting the educational programs by being present on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings when school is in session to assist with classroom setup, snack, arrival, and dismissal, and as a resource and logistical support for teachers and students.

Qualifications:

• Ability to track details and follow through with all aspects of a task
• Collaborative working style, willingness to learn, effective communicator
• Respect for confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and Social Media
• Ability to learn (with training) internal calendaring, database, and communication systems (ShulCloud), Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or other design tools
• Willingness to learn and to operate and support the administrative functions of the office
• B.A. degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience with payroll preferred
• Knowledge of Jewish practice is helpful but not required

Salary $46,000 - $50,000, based on experience
