Jewish Studies Educational Assistant

Educational Assistants are expected to work with a lead elementary school teacher in close collaboration within a grade-level team to implement a high-quality, rigorous and engaging academic program.

Responsibilities of the Educational Assistant will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the lead teacher in creating a classroom environment that encourages learning.
  • Present lessons or portions of lessons to a whole class, a small group, and/or an individual student with guidance and support under the direction of the lead teacher.
  • Perform various instructional and classroom management duties to support a positive learning environment under the direction of the lead teacher.
  • Assist the lead teacher with behavior management strategies to ensure a suitable learning environment is established, both in the classroom and on school grounds (recess and lunchtime).
  • Help to create and maintain a functional and attractive learning environment through the creation of multimodal displays, bulletin boards, and high-interest centers.
  • Cooperate with other professionals to help students solve academic, social, and emotional challenges.
  • Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the school day.
  • Implement an educational program that meets the learning needs of all students.

  • Speak/read in Hebrew

Preferred Educational Background and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with children in elementary school in a General Studies and/or Judaic Studies classroom.
  • Bachelor’s degree or on-track to earn a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates with long-term teaching interest and those pursuing teaching credentials are preferred, but not required.

Hours & Compensation Structure:

  • Full-time, which includes a full Temple Beth Am benefits package comprised of sick days, personal days, health benefits, and more.
  • Paid hourly at the starting rate of $21-$23 per hour. Rate will be determined based on level of experience, education, and fit for our school community.
  • Regular hours will be 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM Monday through Thursday, and 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM Friday.
  • This position reports to an Assistant Principal.
