Central Synagogue-Beth Emeth (CSBE) is a Reform and Reconstructionist congregation in Rockville Centre, NY. For over 90 years, CSBE has been a vibrant center for progressive Judaism on Long Island’s South Shore.
We are seeking a passionate and engaging Hebrew School Teacher to work with our 2nd and 3rd grade students in our K-7 religious school, the Jewish Experience (JE). This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys working with adolescents and helping them develop a meaningful connection to Judaism, Jewish learning, and community.

• In person school hours, Sundays, 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM, from fall through June
• Attendance at staff meetings and professional development sessions, as needed
Key Responsibilities
• Teach Jewish values, holidays, history, and contemporary Jewish life through guided lessons and hands-on learning, games, and crafts.
• Utilize diverse teaching strategies that support a variety of learning styles and backgrounds.
• Foster a classroom environment that is fun, inclusive, respectful, and community-centered.
• Communicate effectively with parents, educational leadership, and fellow faculty.
• Collaborate with clergy and the educational team to support school-wide programming and student engagement.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
• Experience teaching Jewish education, Hebrew, or a related field.
• Familiarity with the CHAI curriculum strongly preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to engage elementary-aged students through creative and interactive instruction.
• Commitment to the inclusive, pluralistic values of Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism.
• Collaborative, dependable, and open to feedback.
Compensation
• $55–$60 per hour, based on experience.
