Congregational Engagement Manager

Temple Sinai is a vibrant Reform congregation of approximately 1,800 member households in Atlanta. At the heart of our community is a simple but important goal: we want every person who walks through our doors to feel that they belong here.

We’re looking for a Congregational Engagement Manager who loves bringing people together and knows how to turn ideas into meaningful experiences. This is a role for someone who is equally energized by relationships and execution—someone who can welcome a new member, brainstorm a creative program with a lay leader, and then help make sure all the pieces come together.

Reporting to the Associate Executive Director and working closely with the Engagement Team, you’ll help create a thoughtful, welcoming, and connected member experience across congregational life.

Engagement Responsibilities – Helping People Find Their Place at Sinai

Programs are only part of building community. Relationships matter even more. You’ll help implement a congregation-wide engagement strategy designed to create meaningful pathways into Temple Sinai, including:

• Welcoming and building relationships with prospective and new members
• Helping members discover people, programs, groups, and opportunities that match their interests
• Creating pathways for connection around life stages, shared interests, volunteerism, and other points of participation
• Working with colleagues to make the member experience feel personal, welcoming, and connected rather than transactional
• Looking for new and creative ways to strengthen relationships among members and deepen their connection to Temple Sinai

Ultimately, success in this role means helping more people move from “I belong to Temple Sinai” to “Temple Sinai is my community.”

Programming Responsibilities – Creating Experiences that Bring People Together

You’ll help shape and deliver programs that make Temple Sinai a place where people want to participate, connect, celebrate, learn, and build relationships.

You will:

• Partner with affinity groups, committees, task forces, lay leaders, clergy, and staff to develop programs that reflect Temple Sinai’s mission and the interests of our community
• Bring creativity and fresh thinking to existing programs while helping develop new opportunities for connection
• Guide programs from idea to execution, coordinating with colleagues on calendars, budgets, timelines, communications, and logistics
• Build strong relationships with lay leaders and help empower them to turn their ideas and passions into meaningful congregational experiences
• Collaborate across departments to create programs that feel welcoming, intentional, and well-executed

Who You Are:

You don’t need to fit one particular mold. You may come from a synagogue or Jewish communal organization—or your background may be in nonprofit programming, membership, hospitality, community building, customer experience, events, or another relationship-centered field.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3-5 years years of demonstrated experience in community engagement, member relations, programming, event management, hospitality, nonprofit work, or a related field
• Strong comfort with Microsoft Office and database technology
• Experience with ClickUp or other project management platforms is a plus
• This role includes approximately 5-7 evening/weekend programs per month, including 1–2 Friday evenings. Flex time is provided for evening/weekend work
• Knowledge of Judaism and Jewish practices is preferred, but we welcome candidates who are excited to learn
