Adat Shalom – Communications Coordinator

ADAT SHALOM is a vibrant, Conservative Jewish synagogue located on the Westside of Los Angeles.

This is a multi-faceted position with potential for growth. Qualified candidates must be technically skilled, highly organized, detail-oriented, and have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills, as well as some experience with database software are a must. The position manages daily office operations and administration, as well as special projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Write lively, engaging content for weekly/monthly/quarterly e-blasts, quarterly newsletters and other communications that promote educational, social, and religious events.
  • Update and maintain Adat Shalom website content ensuring information is accurate, current and user friendly.
  • Implement and monitor metrics for ad campaigns on all digital platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
  • Assist Executive Director with project implementation, including membership development, event logistics, infrastructure projects, day to day operations, etc.
  • Support Religious School communication, including maintaining school calendar, weekly communications to parents, etc.
  • Interact with a wide variety of constituents in a flexible and compassionate way, including synagogue members, board of directors, potential members, etc.
  • Provide support to office team as needed, especially during peak periods.

Position Requirements and Skills

  • Excellent writing skills, with ability to transform factual data into engaging messaging.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and working with tight deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Constant Contact, Publisher software, Canva, WordPress, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience creating graphics and design layout (through Canva, Constant Contact or other programs) preferred.
  • Self-motivated and works independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Natural curiosity in learning new software programs, processes and systems, etc.
  • Familiarity with synagogue database application Shulcloud is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Jewish lifecycle and an appreciation for the importance of a synagogue in a Jewish Community is a plus.
  • Occasional evenings, weekends, and ability to stay for religious holidays, e.g, High Holidays, fundraiser events, etc.

Experience/Education

  • Position: Full time
  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in similar position
  • College Degree: Bachelor's degree is preferred

Salary

Compensation: $26 - $32/hr. commensurate with experience
